From 3rd of June, Italy is opening it’s borders

From 3rd of June, Italy is opening it’s borders to other European Countries and post the 15th to all other countries so things in Rome are definitely going to be more crowded. That’s something I’m not looking forward to, but I guess it’s needed. Just praying that it doesn’t bring a second round of infections. ⁣

What do you think? Do you have any travel plans for 2020? I am laying low at the moment. But even if I do travel at some point, it will be around Italy. ⁣

The first time I ever saw the Colosseum was in the first week that I moved to Rome. As you know, things were pretty rushed up with the whole moving continents bit. So obviously, when I got here, I had no place to stay. 🤷🏻‍♀️⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The first week, I spent it bouncing from one Hotel to another while I searched for a permanent apartment. One of the hotels I was staying in was a 15 minute walk from the Colosseum and after checking in, I set out to explore. ✨⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I had just reached the path leading to the Colosseum and was awestruck when I realised that I didn’t have my passport with me anymore. Obviously I panicked. I mean people do warn you about the pickpockets in the city after all. 🙈⁣⁣
⁣⁣
So I checked my bag properly and when I couldn’t find it there, ran back to the hotel to check if I had left it behind. 🏃‍♀️⁣⁣
⁣⁣
And there it was! The Hotel receptionist had kept it as a deposit and somehow with all the chaos around the move and the excitement of seeing the overwhelming Colosseum, it had completely slipped my mind. 🙈⁣⁣

I think I almost cried when I got it back though 😂 ⁣⁣

Early mornings in Rome have always been my favouri

Early mornings in Rome have always been my favourite. The weather is perfect, the city is empty and there is always hope of finding a nice breakfast place for a quick Italian style cornetto and cappucino breakfast before heading back home for the day. ⁣

I also love late nights in Rome. All the monuments are lit up and there are few people around the city center. ⁣
⁣

THINGS THAT THE LOCKDOWN TAUGHT ME ABOUT MYSELF:⁣⁣
⁣⁣
• I am self-suffiecent and I love living alone, even if it does mean having to do double the work⁣⁣
⁣⁣
• I can be extremely self-motivated and I love learning new things⁣⁣
⁣⁣
• There are days (weeks) when I don’t want to even pick up a pin, unless I realllly have to⁣⁣
⁣⁣
• Tik-tok is really funny and I love it 😂 ⁣
• Life is too short to spend it doing things I am not passionate about ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
• And lastly, that no matter what the future holds for me, I know that I will find a way to continue traveling (I obviously mean once it is safe to travel again) ⁣⁣

Earlier this week Italy relaxed some of the lockdown restrictions. Since Monday we have been allowed out for walks and to meet family and loved ones as long as rules are followed. Masks must be worn at all times and distance should be maintained. ⁣
⁣
Excited, I took a long walk through the city center. I needed that after 2 months of being cooped up at home. And it felt nice and also kinda weird. I have never seen Rome this empty, it was almost like a ghost town. ⁣
⁣
But it was only after I got back home I realised that while the outside is slowly getting legal again, the mental stress that comes along with it is way too much to handle. I was constantly worried about breaking laws and scared of close contact with people around. And while I did enjoy my little walk in the city, the stress associated with it will surely make me think twice before going out again, at least till a vaccine is found. ⁣But I guess, for now, we will have to just get used to living with the virus slowly.
